Why choose Wildwood?
The gospel isn’t merely one ingredient in our programming mix. It’s the reason for everything we do.
About the Wildwood Theme
Our lives are rushed and we find ourselves in a constant state of hurry. We practice bad habits which we find ourselves trapped in day after day. This causes us to live in a constant state of exhaustion because under this busyness stirs an undercurrent of “go faster” or “be better.” But what if there is a different rhythm? This summer at Wildwood we are going to dive into what it truly means to live our lives with Christ. A life that brings purpose, joy, and rest.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Ministry Update – Summer 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current state and local regulations impacting Fresno County, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel all children, youth, and adult events for the summer of 2020. If you need more information, please contact our Registration Team.
We know this may have a profound impact on you and on the ministry at Hume. And yet, even in our disappointment, we continue to trust the Lord. It is a remarkable blessing to see how He transforms lives here at camp, but we also know our God is bigger than this. He can do indescribable things in the hearts of those who look to Him, no matter what the circumstances. He is faithful! If we can trust Jesus with our eternity, we can surely trust Him with our today!
Wildwood is built for high school students who know Jesus but desire to be pushed out of their comfort zone into a closer, more intimate relationship with God. Our philosophy is to strip away the layers of falsehood and distraction in life. This is evidenced in daily quiet times, intentional activities, and in-depth discussions about students’ lives, struggles, and hearing God’s call for deeper relationship with Him. Set in the back forests of Hume’s property, Wildwood emphasizes the practice of spiritual disciplines and learning to be effective for Christ in response to the world’s challenges.
Some older mapping services will suggest you take the 245. It is a curvy, winding road that will take you at least an additional hour. DO NOT take 245!
If you’d like to orient yourself to the camp before arriving, download this PDF of the Hume Lake campus map.
