80th Anniversary Hume Tour Celebration

Celebrate with us!

Join us for a night of nostalgia and celebration as we honor Hume’s 80 years of ministry with a birthday party!

Our Hume Tour: 80th Celebration Nights are unlike anything we’ve ever done before. Created especially for this milestone birthday year, these nights are a fresh, exciting take on gathering together—completely different in style, yet deeply rooted in the heart of what makes Hume special. As we celebrate 80 years, our greatest joy is giving glory to God for all He has done and continues to do through this ministry. Designed for all ages and the whole family, it’s an experience full of energy, joy, and connection. Our hope is that you don’t just attend an event, but that you walk away feeling like you spent the evening at Hume—celebrating God’s faithfulness, together.

The evening will be led by well-known hosts and familiar voices from the Hume community, bringing energy, humor, and a shared history that feels instantly like home. Joined by special music (from beloved artists), the night will come alive as we celebrate, remember, and rejoice together—honoring God’s faithfulness and creating moments that connect past and present in a way only Hume can.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! This is a family-friendly celebration, and we’d love for your kids to be part of it. All ages are welcome because celebrating what God has done is better together.

We’re planning a one-hour experience designed to transport you back to Hume. Together we’ll spend time in meaningful worship, prayer, and celebration as we reflect on 80 years of God’s faithfulness and look ahead with excitement to what’s still to come.

The fun doesn’t stop when the program ends! Stick around afterward for cupcakes, photo booths, and plenty of time to connect with friends (old and new). You’ll also have the chance to shop exclusive Hume 80th anniversary merch, available only at these events, plus a few extra surprises we think you’ll love.

This evening is first and foremost a celebration. There will be an opportunity to give for those who feel led, but there’s absolutely no pressure, just an invitation to partner with what God is continuing to do through Hume.

Great question! This isn’t your standard update night. Think camp nostalgia meets celebration. It’s less presentation and more party, filled with worship, stories, joy, and time to linger afterward and celebrate together.

We would love for you to come—and bring others with you! The Hume Tour is a wonderful opportunity to invite friends and family to experience the heart of Hume, especially those who may not fully understand why this place means so much to you.

Seating will be open, so whether you come on your own or arrive with a group, there will be space for everyone. If you’re planning to attend with others, we encourage you to register together so we can best prepare for the evening.

If you have any questions or need help with your registration, feel free to reach out. A member of our team would be happy to connect with you.

Megan Fate Marshman

Guest Host

Megan’s Hume journey began in 2006 as a Pondy Lead Counselor and continued in 2007 as Ponderosa’s Spirit Girl, where she brought the hype, heart, and big camp energy for six legendary summers. In 2012, she stepped into her current role as Women’s Ministries Director, continuing to leave her mark on the Hume community. Beyond Hume, Megan is a sought-after international speaker and author, serving as Women’s Pastor at Arbor Road Church in Long Beach and a teaching pastor at Willow Creek Church in Chicago—still bringing the same passion, joy, and love for Jesus wherever she goes.

Jeff Brannan

Host

Meet Jeff—also known as “El Jefe.” What began as a single summer at Hume in 1999 quickly turned into a decades-long adventure marked by leadership, laughter, and a deep love for camp ministry.

Jeff’s journey began as summer staff at Meadow Ranch, where he served in roles ranging from Ark Concessions to the Band and Lead Counselor. He later took his leadership off-site to Rancho Del Rey and then to Hume San Diego, serving in Lead Counselor roles and eventually as a Hume Lake Winter Camp Co-Director. Along the way, weekends were filled with camp life too—because once Hume gets in your blood, it’s hard to stay away.

In 2012, Jeff stepped into full-time leadership as Camp Director for Hume San Diego and Christian School Ministries, later serving as Youth Ministry Director, where he continued to invest in camp directors, staff, and students alike. If there was a camp to lead or a team to encourage, Jeff was there—often late into the night and always with enthusiasm. Today, as Senior Director of Kingdom Partnerships, Jeff builds meaningful relationships that strengthen Hume’s ability to serve churches and ministries well, while bringing a deep knowledge of camp, fun energy, heart, and a love for Jesus and people wherever he goes.

Marra Music

Band

Known to many as Fragrant Worship during some of their Hume days, they served as the Ponderosa summer band in 2022 and 2023, with Tommy returning for a third summer. With hearts that clearly worship the Lord, Marra leads with authenticity and passion, drawing people to the cross through powerful, Christ-centered worship. Their music has become a meaningful part of the Hume story, and we’re thrilled to celebrate together once again.

Joel Weldon

Worship

A prolific singer/songwriter/composer, Joel Weldon has written a diverse collection in his life’s work, now spanning more than 2 decades. Mainstream Christian rock; moving story ballads; passionate songs of worship; even composing music for 5 PBS documentaries and jingles for corporations such as Caterpillar. His music has been featured on CMT ( Country Music Television), Promise Keepers, Harvest Crusades with Greg Laurie, Franklin Graham Crusades, Young Life International, and churches have used his worship songs across the USA and around the world, including songs licensed to WORD Records, Maranatha Music, Vineyard Music, Willow Creek Association, and many others.

In the late 80s and early 90s, Joel’s worship leadership at Hume helped shape unforgettable summers, making him “Hume-famous” to campers and staff alike and securing his place as a beloved member of the Hume family.

Sarah Dains

Guest Host

Sarah was a driving force of fun and creativity at Hume beginning in 2016, serving everywhere from Meadow Ranch Rec Lead—“One belly belly, two floppy floppy, threee-eeee!”—to Assistant Winter Camp and Hume SD Director, Ponderosa Camp Director for five summers, and most recently Creative Director. Now serving at College Ave Church in San Diego as the Next Gen and Spiritual Development Director, Sarah continues to bring big energy, great humor, and unmistakable Hume heart wherever she goes.

Jay Johnson

Guest Host

Jay has been a pillar of the Hume story for 3 decades, beginning in 1996 as part of the Winter Camp Ark crew and as Wagon Train Food Dude that summer. After two years as seasonal staff, he joined the full-time team in August of ’98 and served for over 22 years in a wide range of leadership roles—including Assistant Meadow Ranch Camp Director, Meadow Ranch Camp Director (5 summers), Hume SD Camp Director (14 summers!), Offsite Camp Director, and Assistant Director of Program. Known by many names—Dr. Jay on the ice and perhaps most iconically, The Captain—Jay’s deep care for campers and staff, love for camp, attention to detail, and steady influence have shaped generations. Today, he continues to invest in the next generation as the Spiritual Formation Director at Bakersfield Christian High School.
