How do we deal with suffering? How do we cope with tragedy? When people or things promise much yet deliver nothing, how do we endure moments we realize that we’ve believed lies?

The story of Joseph offers a strong and safe foundation for answering questions like these. It shows us just how “in control” God really is. In times of confusion, struggle and despair we can see that God is still at working in and through all things. This should be the most comforting piece of knowledge for those who love God. Believers understand that whatever was meant as evil God will cause to work for the good of those who love Him and who He calls.

We see in Genesis 50:20 Joseph make the definitive statement “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for Good…”. As we study the story of Joseph, we hope that students would be able to trust in a God who is not only with us in our affliction but uses it for our good and His glory.
