Hume Mission Statement

2022 Summer Work Season

Compensation

Wage: Approximately $1,087 every two weeks
Number of Weeks: 7 or 9*

What positions do you offer?

Counselors

Counselors are a vital part of our ministry to students

Minimum Requirements

  • 21 years of age. (Must be two years older than oldest camper.)
  • Spiritually mature and able to share the Gospel message clearly to campers.
  • Ability to provide biblical counseling and handle sensitive issues.
  • Previous Summer Camp experience preferred.
  • Must be in good physical health and capable of attending to the needs of the campers.*
  • Capable of exerting high energy levels for extended periods of time.

Important Information

  • Counselors are required to live in camper housing with campers.
  • Counselors must be flexible. Duties may vary from week to week.
  • Counselors may work long hours and must maintain a positive attitude in stressful situations.

Recreation

Recreation staff are essential to campers having a fun and exciting week

Minimum Requirements

  • Safety conscious mindset is a must.
  • High energy personality.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be in good physical health and capable of providing a safe environment for campers.*

Important Information

  • Recreation Staff support a variety of group and individual activities.
  • Recreation Staff interact directly with all campers while facilitating activities.
  • Recreation Staff serve as role-models to campers and must exhibit sportsmanlike conduct at all times.

Waterfront Counselors
(Lifeguards)

Lifeguards ensure a safe experience and serve as role-models for campers

Minimum Requirements

  • Possesses American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/First-Aid Certifications
  • Safety conscious mindset is a must.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be able to demonstrate applicable swimming and rescue techniques.
  • Must be in good physical health and capable of providing a safe environment for campers.*

Important Information

  • Lifeguard Staff support a variety of group and individual activities around the waterfront.
  • Lifeguard Staff interact directly with all campers while facilitating waterfront activities.
  • Lifeguard Staff must be able to focus their attention on the waterfront for extended periods of time without distraction.
  • Lifeguard Staff must be able to be firm but respectful to campers and counselors.

Facilities

Facilities staff ensure the necessary operation, beauty and cleanliness of camp

Facilities Staff includes Maintenance, Grounds, and Support Services.

Maintenance – Minimum Requirements

  • Previous maintenance or construction experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in the operation of small equipment and power tools.
  • Enjoys a manual labor role.
  • Comfortable working outdoors.

Grounds/Support Services – Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience or interest in lawn care, landscaping, and cleaning.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Enjoys a manual labor role.
  • Comfortable working outdoors.

Important Information

  • Facilities Staff take pride and ownership in camp facilities and grounds.
  • Facilities Staff are able to solve problems and work well with others.
  • Facilities Staff understand that camper experience is affected by all aspects of camp.

Food Service

Food Service Staff ensure Our campers are fueled for fun

Minimum Requirements

  • Desire to be involved in the preparation and serving of camp meals.
  • Ability to maintain health and hygiene standards related to food preparation.
  • Ability to follow instructions of the Lead Chef.
  • Able to work under pressure and within time constraints.

Important Information

  • Food Service Staff understand the value of a positive dining experience.
  • Food Service Staff value presenting their best efforts for others to enjoy.
  • Food Service Staff work together to provide the best possible dining experience.

Medical Staff

Camp nurses and nurse interns care for our campers every day

Minimum Requirements

  • Current Massachusetts Nursing License by the Board of Registered Nurses.
  • Interns must be a student in good standing currently enrolled in a nursing program.
  •  Current CPR certification.
  • Pediatric and/or emergency nursing experience preferred.
  • Be able and willing to work with Hume’s medical staff of doctors, nurses, interns, and EMTs.
  • Possess a servant’s heart and a willing attitude.

Important Information

  • Oversee all medical processes for summer camp.
  • Provide holistic care including medication administration based on our medical protocols
  • Respond to radio calls and report to infirmary or other locations in a timely manner when needed to provide nursing care for guests and staff.
