Hume employs over 100 full-time employees at all our locations. Throughout the year, many seasonal and part-time employees assist in meeting the needs of over 50,000 guests every year. During the summer, the staff at our combined locations grows by over 400 select Christians who have the desire to serve Jesus Christ in the unique ministry of Christian camping. Each are chosen from a variety of geographical areas, regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, handicap, or veteran status. Hume Lake Christian Camps, Inc., is an evangelical, not-for-profit, interdenominational camping ministry.

Job Summary
Hume Lake Christian Camps, Hume New England location, is looking for an individual who is responsible for all Recreational Activities involved with programmed camps, guest groups, retreats, and related uses of the camp. Can also involve organizing and conducting recreation at offsite locations such as churches, lakes, etc. Maintains safety standards, training and certifications, schedules and supervises part-time and seasonal staff, and provides comprehensive oversight of all activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensures all activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner. Promotes safety and consistently identifies and mitigates risks. Conducts pre-activity and post-activity assessments to build learning and ensure the safety of all guests.
  • Works with Program Director to research and develop new activities for the camp.
  • Oversees and maintains equipment.
  • Builds healthy relationships with all people who work in or interact with the camp, including guests, vendors, the local community, and employees. Consistently maintains a welcoming and friendly attitude; promotes interest and care for everyone.
  • Strong team player. Actively seeks to contribute to team success, steps in to fill needs and help other departments. Consistently brings an uplifting presence.
  • Preferably has supervisory experience and performed well.

Job Summary

Hume Lake Christian Camp is seeking a full–time representative to lead the development and execution of all church relations strategies to achieve attendance growth for the camp. this person is out front, on the road, identifying and creating new opportunities for churches, groups, and individuals to attend Hume and become long-term partners. Brings the personality and relational approach to affirm Hume as a highly-desired location and experience where everyone can strengthen and build their spiritual journey in Christ. Manages time to maximize impact of all communication methods, including in-person visits, email, phone and other forms of communication. Possesses significant knowledge and experience of camping ministry and ideally has direct experience with Hume Ministries. Comfortable speaking with senior church leadership as well as other ministry leaders. Functions in the lead role to grow camp attendance from a capacity of 150 guests per retreat/camp today to 350-500 guests per retreat/camp in four years. This is a new position and requires flexibility to adjust focus and priorities to achieve organizational goals.

General Qualifications

  • College graduate preferred. 
  • Marketing or similar training and experience preferred. 
  • Digital graphics/art and video/photography skills a plus.
  • Direct experience with Hume’s mission, camps and retreats preferred.
  • Proactive in approach and desire to maintain excellent performance in all areas of role.
  • Has demonstrated strong planning and organization skills. Possesses attention to detail.

Hume Lake Christian Camps is looking for an individual with a passion for ministry and a desire to serve others.

The Marketing Director is responsible to create, implement and manage a comprehensive marketing plan that will enhance the organization’s image and position within the non-profit sector and general public. These activities include establishing brand identity and recognition, ensuring advertising and marketing across all communication media, and building capacity to provide video, audio and textual material to support marketing efforts. This is a key leadership position within the Organization with responsibility to support all strategic goals, business objectives and delivery of services while coordinating with other departments and contracted services to improve Hume Lake Christian Camps overall effectiveness.

This position requires a minimum of 5 years in marketing with demonstrated success, preferably in the non-profit sector. It is preferred that the Marketing Director live in housing provided at the Hume Lake, CA, location. However, it may be possible to live in the Fresno, CA, area, work out of our Fresno office location and make frequent trips to oversee operations at the Hume Lake location. Employees must also be prepared to meet the spiritual needs of staff and guests and perform other related duties and assignments as required.
