Legacy giving

Your legacy can change lives.

Ways to leave a gift

Several ways, none of them complicated

  1. A gift in your will

A sentence in a will or living trust naming Hume, as a fixed sum or a share of what remains. The most common legacy gift, and the simplest to make or to change.

  2. A beneficiary designation

Naming Hume as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life-insurance policy: a form from the provider, no lawyer, and it can be revisited any time.

  3. A gift of appreciated assets

Stock, property, or a donor-advised fund grant. Often the most tax-efficient way to give, and often the one people do not know they can.

Hume works with PhilanthroCorp, a planned-giving partner who helps donors and their advisors do this well, at no cost. See "Don’t have a will or trust?" below.

Why legacy giving

Let what mattered to you keep making a difference.

A campership gift changes a life today. A legacy gift carries that impact forward to campers you may never meet, because what happened at Hume mattered, and you want it to continue.

There is no urgency to it. It can be added to a will at any age and changed at any time. The only thing it asks is that you decide it matters.

Getting started

Don’t have a will or trust? Plan for the people and things you love.

Whether you’re raising a young family, enjoying the grandparent years, or somewhere in between, having a will in place is an important way to care for the people you love and make sure what you’ve worked for is handled the way you intend.

As a Hume ministry partner, you have access to complimentary estate-planning services through PhilanthroCorp. Their experienced team can walk alongside you as you create or update your estate plan and consider the legacy you want to leave.

If Hume is already part of your will, trust, or beneficiary plans, we would love to know. Telling us brings you into the Ripple Society, Hume’s community of Legacy Partners whose generosity reaches campers they will never meet, so we can recognize your gift and plan for the ministry it will support.

The endowment is the same decision, made today.

A gift held and invested permanently, with the income supporting Hume every year: a legacy gift you get to see begin.
