Hume Lake employs over 100 full-time employees. Throughout the year, many seasonal and part-time employees assist in meeting the needs of over 50,000 guests every year. During the summer, the staff grows by over 400 select Christians who have the desire to serve Jesus Christ in the unique ministry of Christian camping. Each are chosen from a variety of geographical areas, regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, handicap, or veteran status. Hume Lake Christian Camps Inc. is an evangelical, not-for-profit, interdenominational camping ministry.

Part Time/Seasonal

Weekend positions are available on select weekends, September through May, in the Food Service and Program departments. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Hume Lake Christian Camps is looking for an individual with a passion for ministry and a desire to serve others. 

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for guiding and managing the overall provisions of Human Resources services, policies and programs for the organization; originates and leads Human Resource practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. Provides executive level leadership and advises organizational Directors, Managers and Supervisors on Human Resources issues.  Ensures compliance with all existing government, State and local labor requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), etc.   Educational requirements include, the minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent field. Undergraduate degree in biblical/theological studies, is a plus.  Advanced degree or professional certification in the Society for Human Resources Management—Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.   This position requires strong inter-personal skills with the ability to project a friendly attitude; work with a variety of ages and personalities and with a diverse group of internal staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism. Hume Lake Christian Camps is looking for an individual with a strong commitment to the Christian faith coupled with a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and experience in accounts payable. The A/P Bookkeeper is responsible to see that all invoices are paid, and job functions performed, in a timely and accurate manner. In addition, the A/P Bookkeeper posts and balances all credit card/vendor statements on a monthly basis, and assists with monthly and yearly reporting. This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), ten-key operation, and basic computer skills. The individual must be flexible, willing to learn new procedures and systems, work under pressure and adapt quickly to changes within the accounting team environment and deadline requirements. Applicant must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to maintain a good relationship with vendors and staff. The individual must also be organized and detailed and must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and streamline. Applicant must have with the ability to work at repetitive tasks for long periods of time with minimal supervision. A Bachelor’s Degree and experience is preferred. The Marketing Director is responsible to create, implement and manage a comprehensive marketing plan that will enhance the organization’s image and position within the non-profit sector and general public. These activities include establishing brand identity and recognition, ensuring advertising and marketing across all communication media, and building capacity to provide video, audio and textual material to support marketing efforts. This is a key leadership position within the Organization with responsibility to support all strategic goals, business objectives and delivery of services while coordinating with other departments and contracted services to improve Hume Lake Christian Camps overall effectiveness.

This position requires a minimum of 5 years in marketing with demonstrated success, preferably in the non-profit sector. It is preferred that the Marketing Director live in housing provided at the Hume Lake, CA, location. However, it may be possible to live in the Fresno, CA, area, work out of our Fresno office location and make frequent trips to oversee operations at the Hume Lake location. The applicant must have at least 2 years experience in hands-on plumbing and related handiwork. Responsibilities include installation, repair, upgrades and remodels for both guests and staff housing. Must be adept in commercial plumbing and preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration units.

Hume Lake Christian Camps is looking for an individual with strong culinary experience for our Executive Chef position. This individual must demonstrate a servant’s heart and Christ-like attitude. Applicant must support and participate in staff spiritual life activities, including staff devotions and staff retreats. Applicant must have successfully completed an accredited Culinary Training Program. Responsibilities include maintaining daily production and pull/prep sheets, supervision and training of both full-time and seasonal staff, provide managerial and culinary support in five foodservice facilities, assist management team in developing menus to meet the special needs of our guests, and maintaining budget requirements through recipe costing and menu development. This position requires strong oral and written communication skills and must maintain a current Fresno County Serve-Safe certification. Applicant must work closely with other relevant staff in planning and coordinating special events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate employees and projects relating to grounds.
  • Maintain the roads and grounds of the camp and/or public property by performing various duties.
