Student Worship Retreat

March 22-24, 2019

Hume is partnering with Joel Weldon and 02 Worship to host our Student Worship Retreat! Bring your youth worship teams and aspiring musicians up for a weekend worship experience like no other. These three days will enrich their leadership, build the depth, breadth, and health of your student’s abilities. Many Breakout sessions presented through the weekend will target every band and tech team member. A chart-topping house band will guide us through the main sessions, featuring a worship songwriting contest, along with terrific giveaways at every meeting. Experience powerful times of worship that you can take back down the mountain to your churches!

SUBMIT AN ORIGINAL WORSHIP SONG
Deadline: 12:00pm February 28, 2018

WHAT IS THE SONG-WRITING COMPETITION ABOUT?
Student Worship Retreat attendees are invited to submit their original songs for consideration of being chosen to be recorded live at the retreat. From all the submissions, a panel of varied worship leaders and industry professionals select the 5 best to be recorded, along with sheet music and lyrics to be downloaded from hume.org, and recording made available through various outlets.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY SONG?
Mail a CD of your song to Hume Lake at:
ASCEND: Song Contest
Attn: Jason King
64144 Hume Lake Rd.
Hume, CA 93628
Or send a download link of your song to songcontest@humelake.org

*You must sign and submit the Licensing Agreement as well.

WHAT KIND OF SONG CAN I SUBMIT?
We are only looking for “congregational worship” songs that churches can use during a worship service, not “artist” or “performance” songs.

HOW MANY SONGS?
One song per attendee, please.

HOW GOOD DOES THE RECORDING NEED TO BE?
Whatever you can do is fine! We’ve accepted and selected song demos ranging from just guitar and vocal, to mixes straight off the soundboard on Sunday morning, to fully produced demos.

WHAT FORMAT DOES THE RECORDING NEED TO BE?
We can only accept CD recordings, MP3 recordings made available through an upload link, no cassettes or emailed mp3s.

WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED?
Once the deadline passes on February 28th, the selection process takes a few weeks. When the songs are chosen, we notify the writers immediately. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of submissions, we can only notify the selected writers. So, if you don’t hear from us within a week of February 28th, your song was not selected. (But thank you in advance for your submission, and keep trying! Some writers submitted several years in a row before their songs were selected!)

AM I GIVING UP MY RIGHTS TO OR OWNERSHIP OF MY SONG?
No way! This project is entirely to promote the original songs and songwriters of the local church. The writer retains all rights to the song. See the application guidelines for more details.

WHEN IS THAT DEADLINE AGAIN?
12:00pm on February 28th is our absolute cutoff. To be fair to all, we will not
accept any submissions that come in after that time!

WILL MY SUBMISSION BE RETURNED TO ME?
Uh…any volunteers want to handle that process? No, unfortunately, we cannot
return your submissions. Do NOT send your only copy!

DO YOU ACCEPT BRIBES?
Well, we don’t like to call them “bribes”…

BE SURE TO CAREFULLY READ THE GUIDELINES AS LISTED ON THE APPLICATION. INCLUDE THE SIGNED LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH YOUR APPLICATION AND SUBMISSION.
